Due to the advanced technology and the increase in personal wealth, more people try to improve their appearance and tend to choose to have cosmetic surgery. In my opinion, the positive effects of this development far outweigh the negative ones.
1 用原因开头
这是雅思大作文开头方式的一种，但是好好想想：题目问的就是原因！
所以，这种方式不适合这个题型——引起这个现象的原因实际上是主体段的内容。
2 观点句居然写的是outweigh
雅思大作文有一类题型就是outweigh，可这个题问的是积极还是消极的发展。在观点句这样写，会让考官误以为你看错了题目，搞错了题型。
The growing popularity of cosmetic surgery can be attributed to various factors. One reason is the increasing societal emphasis on physical appearance. With the rise of social media and the prevalence of edited images, people may feel more self-conscious about their appearance and seek cosmetic procedures to enhance their features or address perceived flaws. At the same time, many people with beautiful faces can even turn their appearance into wealth and fame. For instance, some live streamers may utilize their beauty to get attention and affection. Additionally, advancements in medical technology have made cosmetic surgery safer and more accessible, which may encourage more people to consider it as an option.
第二段写了原因，那引入开头的原因算啥？
Having cosmetic surgery to improve one’s appearance has many positive effects. The one is that cosmetic surgery can boost self-confidence and improve mental well-being for some individuals, particularly those who have long struggled with insecurity or dissatisfaction with their appearance. Cosmetic surgery is a useful tool to help some people find their confidence back and become braver to face harsh lives. Another positive side is it can also help individuals who have experienced physical trauma or medical conditions that affect their appearance regain a sense of normalcy and improve their quality of life. For instance, those patients with severe burns can have similar skin to normal people through cosmetic surgery, which may help them come back to the normal live that they used to have.
Cosmetic surgery has its drawbacks too. There is a risk of addiction to cosmetic procedures, in pursuit of an unattainable ideal of perfection, some people may get addicted to accept surgeries for they may never be satisfied with their appearance. There are undeniably a number of people who went bankrupt for they can’t stop taking cosmetic surgeries.
第三段写好处，第四段写坏处，这种结构更适合回答outweigh。
回答消极积极，推荐第三段第一句直接说：我认为这是积极/消极的发展。如果认为是积极的发展且要写坏处，就应该以让步的形式提出坏处(Admittedly, cosmetic surgery has itsdrawbacks)。
To sum up, I agree that the increase attention on cosmetic surgery is a positive development, despite it may bring some risks of addiction to cosmetic procedures.
终于，在结尾段给出了立场：积极的发展。
