自从美最高法院裁定大学决定录取时不允许将种族因素划入考虑范围后，不少大学调整了自己的招生政策，也新增了补充文书题目，鼓励申请人去表达自己的成长背景是如何影响其价值观和言行、以至于成为现在的自己的——种族可以被选择写进文书，但重点依旧在于申请者的个人故事。

普林斯顿大学
和往年相比，普林斯顿大学最新附加文书最明显的变化是新增了一道最多500字的文书题目，题目是“申请者的生活经历是如何塑造申请者的”，这一题目的字数上限也高于往年的350字。
普林斯顿大学补充文书由三部分必答题组成，第一部分为申请专业方向类问题，对于不同学位的申请者，普林斯顿大学为其设置了不同的补充文书问题以供回答（250词以内）；第二部分则是综述类问题；第三部分为不超过50词的简答题。
