The Gauss Contests introduce students in Grades 7 and 8 to a broader perspective of mathematics than their school curriculum can typically provide in a fun, accessible way. Intriguing problems and a multiple-choice format make the Gauss contests a wonderful opportunity for all participants to grow their interest in and curiosity about the power of math.

加拿大滑鐵盧大學高斯競賽以有趣且易於參與的方式，引導七、八年級學生接觸學校課程以外更廣闊的數學視野。競賽題目設計富有啟發性，並採用選擇題形式，為所有參加者提供一個絕佳機會，激發對數學的興趣與好奇心，進一步體會數學的力量。

Student Eligibility

競賽組別The Gauss contest is generally more suitable for students in grades 5 to 8 to participate. Motivated students in lower grades are welcome to write the contest.

加拿大滑鐵盧大學高斯競賽通常適合五至八年級的學生參加。我們亦歡迎積極進取的低年級學生報名應試，挑戰自我，拓展視野。

Competition Format

競賽形式Online at home, students use:

[1] a computer or tablet to answer the questions via CEMC’sonline system,

[2] another phone or tablet device to dial in a Zoom meeting for teacher to proctor.

本次競賽採用居家線上考試形式。學生需準備以下設備：

[1] 一台電腦/平板，通過CEMC的在線系統回答問題；

[2] 另一台手機/平板，撥入Zoom會議，以便教師進行監考。

Competition Structure試卷結構60 minutes exam with 25 multiple-choice questions. Parts A and B each has 10 multiple-choice questions; Part C has 5 multiple-choice questions.The full score is5' x 10 + 6' x 10 + 8' x 5 = 150'.

考試時間為60分鐘，共25題選擇題。

A部分與B部分各有10題選擇題，C部分有5題選擇題。滿分為：5分×10題＋6分×10題＋8分×5題＝150分。

獎項設置

Certificate of Distinction｜卓越獎

Every participant scoring in the top 25% of all competitors receives a Certificate of Distinction.｜所有參賽者中得分排名前25%者，將獲得卓越獎。

Certificate of Achievement｜成就獎

The highest achieving participant in each school for both the Grade 7 and Grade 8 Contests receives a Certificate of Achievement.（No participant should receive an award for both the Grade 7 and 8 Contest.）｜在七年級與八年級賽事中，各校成績最優異的學生，將分別獲得成就獎。（每位學生僅能獲得其中一個年級的獎項，不能同時獲得七年級與八年級的獎項。）

Honor Roll｜榮譽榜

The names of top-scoring official participants will appear in the "Student Honour Roll - International" in the contest result document.｜成績優異的參賽者姓名將列入「國際學生榮譽榜」。
